Position Summary

The Department of Counseling and Special Education at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Special Education.

The primary professional responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting and supervising research, seeking external funding, providing University and professional service, and advising. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all our students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, respects, and celebrates diversity and differences.

This position is effective August 20, 2018. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements including: 1) a doctoral degree in special education; ABD will be considered if it is clear the terminal degree will be conferred prior to the date of hire, 2) three years of PK-12 teaching experience, and 3) demonstrate, or the potential to demonstrate, a record of high-quality teaching, research, and service commensurate with rank. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following: curriculum and instruction, culturally responsive instruction, Autism Spectrum Disorders, transition, and assessment.
