Position Summary

The School of Engineering & Technology at Central Michigan University (CMU) seeks an experienced and dynamic individual for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in mechanical engineering with teaching and research interests in the thermofluids area, beginning fall semester, 2018.

Required Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, or other closely related engineering field; ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is assured before duties commence.
2. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
3. Demonstrated strong commitment to and potential for research that attracts external funding and leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
4. Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in mechanical engineering, (which could include fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and/or other related fields.)
5. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ph.D. with academic experience in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and/or other related fields.
2. Previous teaching experience at the university level.
3. Significant industrial experience.

About the Department

The School of Engineering and Technology currently offers three ABET-accredited programs in computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. The School of Engineering and Technology presently has 26 full-time faculty members and also offers undergraduate majors in industrial, mechanical and product design engineering technology. The School also started an MS in engineering program in 2015. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000 square foot engineering & technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
