Position Summary

Position: Professor in Environmental Engineering, beginning August 2018
The School of Engineering & Technology at Central Michigan University (CMU) seeks an experienced and dynamic individual for a Professor position in its new environmental engineering program. It is expected that this program will focus on water resource management in collaboration with CMU’s Institute of Great Lakes Research. The appointment will begin fall semester, 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a new undergraduate environmental engineering program, including (but not limited to): staffing the program with multiple tenure-track faculty, developing program curriculum, accrediting the program through ABET, and equipping laboratory space necessary to support the program. The successful applicant will be appointed as full professor with tenure.

Required Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in a field of study closely related to environmental engineering.
2. Experience and qualifications commensurate with appointment as a full professor with tenure.
3. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
4. Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills in an academic environment.
5. Demonstrated strong record of success in teaching, research and external funding.
6. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with development of new academic programs.
2. Experience with external accreditation processes.
3. Significant experience in government agencies and/or industry.

About the Department

The School of Engineering and Technology currently offers three ABET accredited engineering programs in computer engineering (BSCE), electrical engineering (BSEE), and mechanical engineering (BSME). The School of Engineering and Technology presently has 25 full-time faculty members and also offers undergraduate majors in industrial, mechanical and product design engineering technology. The School also has an MS in Engineering program. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000 square foot engineering & technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
