Position Title DIR IHBI/SR RESEARCHER, DATA SCIENTIST
Position Summary

The Director of IHBI (Institute for Health & Business Insight)/Senior Researcher functions as a team leader on analytics projects that support the capture, collection, exploratory data analysis, and transformation of complex data sets and incorporates them into statistical, data mining, text mining, machine learning, simulation, geographic information systems and other business intelligence tools for insight and visualization. The director of IHBI/senior researcher shall serve as a program manager responsible for ensuring adherence to the organization’s project management methodologies and help guide the development of predictive data models, optimization, and quantitative study of data that has been prepared for analysis.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computing or related field.
Experience or education in artificial neural networks, SAS Enterprise Miner, and MATLAB.

Duties & Responsibilities

Actively works with the modeling team to outline analytics approaches (such as the use of artificial neural networks) to solving data driven problems.
Selects, supervises, and allocates research associate(s)/data scientist (s) and student worker(s) time to projects and other team members.
Provides quality control on team member analysis approach, findings, reports, lab book documentation, and presentations. Negotiates and prepares client proposals and grants.
Helps organize client and faculty workshops and seminars.
Provides training and assistance for students, faculty and client personnel. Serves as the technical account manager for key clients.
Meets project deadlines and guide analytics approaches in a timely manner.
Produces models, simulations, optimizations, etc
Generates reports, graphs, and presentations from MATLAB, SAS, reporting tools, and miscellaneous other analysis tools used on the project.
Charters, assesses, and reviews literature searches relevant to client problem domains. Develops and/or adopt procedures for ensuring data integrity and quality research findings.
Develops relationships with CMU faculty and staff to participate on projects.
Develops and teaches analytics related curriculum for CMU programs/courses, workshops and client onsite training.
