Position Summary

The Central Michigan University College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in Sports Medicine and Athletics leadership. This unique opportunity for physicians to pursue clinical work while contributing to the college’s mission focusing on primary care, education and scholarly activity. Successful candidates will assume a role that will include clinical practice, teaching, scholarly activity, and committee service. As a direct patient care provider, the candidate may provide medical consultation, sports medicine, and acute injury services to include general medicine, minor trauma, office gynecology including birth control options, office allergy, primary care dermatology /ophthalmology services.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or DO degree. Licensed or eligible for unrestricted licensure in the State of Michigan and Board certification or eligibility in a recognized American Board Medical Specialty. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have facilitation skills with interactive learning in large and small group settings. Strong collaborative and communication skills; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity. The best candidates will have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work with all disciplines in the health care team, clinical teaching experience, tolerance for ambiguity, and an understanding of clinical processes and problem solving.

About the Department

The CMU College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class in the summer of 2013. The innovative medical school curriculum is designed to prepare students for practice in mid- to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, with particular attention to primary care needs in the region.
