Position Summary

The Center for Excellence in STEM Education (CESE) Program Facilitator within the College of Education and Human Services provides K-12 STEM community outreach programming at various venues across the central Michigan region.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
Experience working with K-12 students.
STEM education background.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions.
Willingness to work nights and weekends.
Must be collegial – approachable, team-oriented, positive and interested in building strong working relationships.
Must possess strong technology skills.
Ability to travel.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience in a STEM-related field.
Teaching certification.
Community outreach experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for facilitating STEM education student outreach events off-campus.
Responsible for program registration and communication with participants.
Participates with the Center in some on-campus student programming.
Prepares materials and equipment in advance of facilitation of events.
Responsible for event planning and attendance of special initiatives, such as Family Engineering Night on campus.
Other duties as assigned.

The Center for Excellence in STEM Education at CMU supports STEM education programming for students, teachers, teacher education candidates and families in the region.
Many of the Center’s events are held in its maker space; including classroom field trips, open make events and summer camps. Additionally the Center holds professional learning opportunities on CMU’s campus for pre and in-service teachers throughout the year.
