Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant Professor within CMU’s APA-accredited Ph.D. clinical psychology program effective August 2018. The successful candidate will join a department with 34 faculty members as a member of the Clinical Psychology Program of seven faculty. The successful applicant will have a background in health psychology broadly defined, though individuals with interest in health disparities in underserved/marginalized populations and/or integrative primary care will be given preference. In addition, it is expected applicants will demonstrate potential for developing an active, externally funded research program.

Required Qualifications

This position requires an earned doctorate in clinical psychology; ABDs will be considered, however the doctoral degree must be completed within one year of appointment. Evidence of scholarship, a commitment to quality teaching, and the ability to supervise clinical doctoral students is required. Also required is evidence of research productivity for the appropriate level through peer-reviewed journal publications, book chapters, and books. Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the state of Michigan. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate from an APA-accredited program. Higher education teaching and student advising experience at the graduate level. Evidence of successful activity related to securing external research funding. Preference will be given to candidates with research or clinical interests in health psychology.

The Department of Psychology offers doctoral programs in school psychology, clinical, experimental, and industrial/organizational psychology, and offers a graduate concentration in occupational health psychology.
