Position Title Coordinator Development/Southeast
Position Summary

The Michigan Special Olympics Development Coordinator will maximize private and philanthropic funding for Southeast Michigan. This position is responsible for building a portfolio of corporate and individual prospects and employs moves management to secure new partnerships. This person will utilize sales tactics, such as cold calling, to grow special events and fundraising in Southeast Michigan.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of qualifying experience in fundraising and/or sales.
Strong professional communication skills and ability to independently communicate with stakeholders with the upmost professionalism and demeanor both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to project a positive image.
Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
Valid driver’s license.
Proficiency with computers; specifically Microsoft Suite.
Ability to develop positive relationships.
Self-starter, able to work independently and problem-solve, willing to take initiative
Strong ability to self-manage with significant strength in time management
Ability to work on a team and develop relationships
Detail-oriented, efficient, and ability to multi-task
Goal oriented and self-driven to exceed development goals
Attend State Competitions and fundraising events outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and working knowledge of Special Olympics Michigan.
Experience in working with Raiser’s Edge or other donor management software.

Duties & Responsibilities

Utilizes calling, face-to-face meetings, and presentations to secure event partnerships and individual and corporate donors.
Works to increase attendance and ticket sales at Southeast Breakfast and Gala and other signature events
Creates corporate and business proposals, and sales materials.
Compliant in updating Raiser’s Edge donor software/NXT and tracking activity to reach goals.
Coordinates benefit delivery and partner/donor volunteer opportunities in conjunction with other departments.
Identifies opportunities for cash and in kind (budget relieving) partnerships.
Performs other duties as assigned by Development Director.

The mission of Special Olympics Michigan is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
