Position Summary

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Administration invites applications for a nine month, tenure track position at the assistant/associate faculty rank. The successful candidate must have the ability to teach undergraduate courses in the therapeutic recreation area, advise students academically and professionally, supervise interns, and provide university and professional service and engage in scholarship.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate degree, with at least one post baccalaureate degree in therapeutic recreation; ABD will be considered if it is clear the degree will be conferred by the time of appointment

CTRS certification

Ability to teach at the university level

Ability to actively engage in scholarship/research

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications

Practitioner experience in therapeutic recreation

Active engagement with professional associations

Experience in academic advising

About the Department

The RPL Department has been nationally accredited since 1981. The therapeutic recreation program is the second largest program in the RPL Department which totals 900 students over 3 majors and 4 minors. Unique to the therapeutic recreation program is an extensive adapted equipment inventory. The program currently hosts 4 therapeutic recreation faculty.
